The death has been announced of Dr. Hassan Tijjani Monguno, younger brother to the chief whip of the 10th Senate and Senator representing Borno North Senatorial District, Mohammed Tahir Monguno. He passed away at the age of 51 and has since been buried in Maiduguri according to Islamic rites.

The late Dr. Hassan Tijjani Monguno was a man of quiet strength, humility, and uncommon dedication to service. Until his passing, he served as a Senior Lecturer at Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri, where he was respected as a mentor, teacher, and guide to generations of students. He also held the position of Operations Manager at the Community and Social Development Project (CSDP), a role in which he worked tirelessly to deliver grassroots development initiatives that improved the living conditions of communities across Borno State.

Known for his integrity, simplicity, and generosity of spirit, Dr. Monguno left behind a legacy of selflessness and public service. Colleagues in academia and the development sector described him as a professional whose character was defined by discipline, intellect, and compassion for the less privileged. His sudden death, they said, represents a painful void not only to the Monguno family but also to all who benefitted from his life of service.

In recognition of his contributions and in solidarity with the bereaved family, the Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, led a delegation of top government functionaries, political leaders, and traditional rulers to Senator Monguno’s residence in Maiduguri to commiserate with the family.

Their condolence visit reflected the wide respect commanded by the deceased and the high esteem in which the Monguno family is held.

Other dignitaries, including legislators, academic community members, religious leaders, and community stakeholders, also thronged the family residence to offer their condolences. Many described the late Dr. Monguno as a man whose life testified to hard work, faith, and service to humanity.
