United States President Donald Trump and United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer have signed a sweeping new accord dubbed the “Tech Prosperity Deal”, hailed as the largest technology partnership in British history.

The agreement, which the leaders said will unlock billions in cross-Atlantic investment, was unveiled before a room of top American and British business leaders on Thursday.

Trump, on his second state visit to the UK, described the pact as a sign of the “unbreakable bond” between the two nations. “The ties between our countries are priceless,” he said, adding that the partnership was a “beautiful inheritance” being made “closer than ever before.”

The US president praised Britain for becoming the first country to strike a trade deal with his administration earlier this year. He declared, “There’s no more natural partnership in the world, and we are building up the industrial capacities of both our countries, which is important for defence.”

In remarks laced with characteristic bravado, Trump painted a bullish picture of America’s economy. “One year ago, the US was in serious trouble,” he said. “The King of Saudi Arabia told me, ‘Your country was dead one year ago and now you have the hottest country of anywhere in the world.’”

He claimed that more than $17 trillion had been invested in the US this year alone, attributing the surge to his administration’s tariffs. “We’ve taken in trillions of dollars from tariffs and they’ve been so incredible for our country,” Trump said. “Without the tariffs we would have just a fraction of that. We’re keeping US companies happy, solid and sane.”

Trump also pointed to immediate dividends from the new accord, announcing a deal between American company X-energy and UK energy giant Centrica to deploy nuclear reactors across Britain, an agreement he said had been “in the wind for years” but was “finally getting done.”

Prime Minister Starmer, flanked by Trump, called the deal “a blueprint to win this new era together.”

He stressed its scale, declaring, “Today’s deal, with billions flowing both ways of the Atlantic, is the biggest of its kind in British history by a country mile.”

The Labour leader said the partnership would mean “life-changing investments in the UK” and ensure “thousands of working people [are] better off.” He pointed to the potential of joint leadership in sectors including technology, finance, defence, and energy.

Starmer also highlighted a civil nuclear power deal, saying it would “generate power for millions of businesses, drive down bills, and drive up security on both sides of the Atlantic.”

Referring to a previous tariff agreement struck with the US in May, the prime minister said: “The UK got the best deal then, with the lowest tariffs in the world in vital sectors. It was a tough negotiation but we did it for a reason, it was a win for both sides.”

Seated alongside Trump, Starmer struck a warm tone, telling the US president: “You are among friends.” He said the United States remained Britain’s “single biggest trading partner,” noting that over 2.5 million jobs are supported across both economies.

“We have the great and the good of British and American business sitting with us,” he told the gathering. “I think we all agree, there’s so much to celebrate in the special relationship between our two countries.”

Trump, for his part, thanked King Charles III and Queen Camilla for hosting him at a “fantastic evening” during the state visit, calling the trip an “exquisite honour.”
