Member representing Fagge federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Mohammed Shehu, said he has spent about N50 million to assist 354 less-privileged young women from his constituency in getting married.
Bello made this known on Thursday while briefing newsmen in Kano on his achievements in the past two years.
According to him, the assistance includes cash support, furniture, mattresses, and pillows that target young women from disadvantaged backgrounds and ensure they can enter marriage with dignity and proper preparation.
“Supporting our young women in their transition to married life is not just about providing material assistance; it‘s about building stronger families and communities,“ he said.
Hon. Bello also highlighted that he has awarded scholarships worth over N300 million to more than 3,500 indigent students across tertiary institutions; provided N250,000 scholarships to over 25 Law School candidates, and supported thousands of secondary school students with WAEC, NECO, and JAMB registration fees.
In infrastructure development, he pointed out that a Science Model Primary School at Kwachiri Maidorawa was constructed, with computer rooms and libraries established, and over 2,000 school uniforms were provided to students across the constituency.
In the healthcare sector, Hon. Bello said N80 million has been invested in medical assistance for patients with cancer, kidney disease, tuberculosis, and other critical conditions, including the refurbishing of medical equipment at Sheikh Jidda General Hospital and upgrading the Sabo Garba Primary Healthcare Centre in his area.
He also added that over 2,000 children in Fagge have benefited from the mass circumcision program alongside regular medical outreach programs to underserved communities carried out within the period under review.
Bello also highlighted some infrastructure projects in his area, including the construction of 1.6km of road from Kings College Alasawa to Kuka Maigado, the installation of over 800 solar street lights, and the construction of multiple boreholes across various communities.
He also added that he has empowered 219 beneficiaries economically with business cash grants totalling N19.65 million and reached out to 3,000 beneficiaries, providing motorcycles, refrigerators, sewing machines, and other business tools, among other things, by sponsoring various bills and motions, which are yielding positive results for his constituents.
