The member representing Darazo-Ganjuwa federal constituency, Hon. Mansur Manu Soro, has donated a utility vehicle to the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Soro Study Centre to address its mobility challenges.
The vehicle, handed over through the centre’s acting director, Mrs. Hauwa Dede, was presented by the chairman of Darazo local government area, Hon. Samaila Yau Sade.
Speaking to LEADERSHIP yesterday, Hon. Soro recalled that the study centre he facilitated and inaugurated a few weeks ago was the first of its kind in the Bauchi Central zone and the largest in Northern Nigeria.
In further support, the lawmaker announced the constitution of a four-man committee chaired by Comrade Abdulrahman Ibrahim Darazo. The committee will be tasked with selecting 200 candidates from the 22 wards of the constituency for postgraduate programmes (degrees and master’s) at the Soro Study Centre.
According to him, tuition fees for the candidates will be covered from his personal support.
Other committee members are Sulaiman Mato (Ganjuwa East), Hon. Yunusa Papa (Sade District), and Kinshatu Miya.
“The committee shall prioritise financially constrained candidates, especially those pursuing science, technology, engineering, mathematics and agriculture (STEMA) courses,” he emphasised.
