Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA) has flagged off the construction of the Umunnekwu-Amibo-Acha Road in the Isuikwuato local government area of Abia State.

At the event yesterday, the director-general of the GODA, Obinna Odum, described the road as critical to the development of the area and Abia North zone in general.

He said the road is expected to address years of poor road access in the area, restore smooth movement, and strengthen socio-economic activities, particularly agriculture and trade.

This initiative is part of Governor Alex Otti’s comprehensive vision to open up rural communities, improve connectivity, and drive economic growth across the state.

“We are committed to ensuring that this project is completed on schedule and in line with approved specifications. Our people deserve nothing less,” according to him.

He underscored the administration’s commitment to delivering quality projects, emphasised strict adherence to standards, and charged the engineers not to compromise durability.

Reacting to the event, one of the community leaders, Chukwu Ahamefula expressed delight with the project and commended the governor, and the GODA.

He narrated how the people had suffered untold hardship for decades due to the lack of an access road and expressed the hope that the project would be completed as scheduled.

According to Adindu Chimereucheya, one of the youths, the project, when completed, will not only give the people a sense of belonging but also help the area’s economy turn around.
