Suspected gunmen yesterday launched deadly attacks on Motokun and Agboro communities in Patigi local government area, killing a police officer and a woman in the process.
The bandits who invaded the Kwara North communities in the early hours of Wednesday also shot six persons and abducted another six.
The spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, Toun Ejire, in a statement this evening, confirmed that a woman died from the gunshot injuries she sustained during the attacks.
She also confirmed the abduction of six persons in the two communities, adding that six others sustained gunshot injuries.
The statement reads: “The Kwara State Police Command confirms that on Tuesday, 23rd September, 2025, armed bandits launched coordinated attacks on Motokun and Agboro communities in Patigi local government area.
“At Motokun, preliminary findings indicate that six persons were abducted, while six residents sustained gunshot injuries. Sadly, one female victim later died at the hospital, while the others are currently receiving medical attention.
“The assailants subsequently moved to Agboro, where they targeted a private company. In the course of the attack, one police officer gallantly lost his life in active service, while properties within the facility were also vandalised.
“The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, has deployed tactical teams in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other security stakeholders to restore order and ensure the safe rescue of abducted victims. Patrols and surveillance operations have intensified on the axis, and residents are assured of the command’s unwavering commitment to safety.
”The Command commiserates with the families of those affected by this tragic incident and urges public members to remain calm and security-conscious, while promptly reporting suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security formation.”
