BUA Foods Plc has reported a profit after tax of N450.47 billion for the nine months ended 30 September 2026, an increase of 11% from N405.27 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.
The company’s unaudited results showed that gross profit rose to N552.90 billion from N520.65 billion in the prior-year period. Gross profit margin increased to 48.3 per cent, from 36.7 per cent in the corresponding period of 2025.
Revenue declined by 19 per cent to N1.15 trillion during the period. BUA Foods attributed the decline to softer pricing conditions and subdued consumer demand.
Cost of sales reduced by 34 per cent to N592.94 billion, which the company said reflected lower topline costs and a more stable foreign exchange environment. Total operating expenses declined by 20 per cent to N66.99 billion, from N83.65 billion in the corresponding period of 2025.
Selling and distribution expenses fell by 15 per cent to N45.04 billion, while administrative expenses decreased by 28 per cent to N21.95 billion. Operating profit margin expanded by 12 percentage points to 43 per cent, from 31 per cent in the prior-year period.
Profit before tax increased by 11 per cent to N480.52 billion. Earnings per share also rose by 11 per cent to N25.03, compared with N22.52 in the corresponding period of 2025.
Commenting on the results, the Managing Director of BUA Foods Plc, Engr. Ayodele Abioye, said the nine-month performance demonstrated the resilience of the company’s operating model and the benefits of disciplined cost and margin management. He said that, despite the revenue decline, the company improved profitability through cost optimisation, improved productivity and execution across the business.
Abioye said BUA Foods would remain focused on driving profitable growth, enhancing market penetration and maintaining operational efficiency. He added that the company would continue to build on its brands, supply chain capabilities and distribution network to support long-term growth.
