Kano State Police Command has arrested 105 suspects in 30 major cases around the state in September 2025.

The state commissioner of police, Ibrahim Bakori, announced this at a press briefing yesterday at Bompai Police Headquarters.

He said the arrests were successful because of the effectiveness of ā€œOperation Kukan Kuraā€, a comprehensive security initiative launched in compliance with the inspector-general of police (IGP’s) directive to adopt community-centered proactive crime prevention strategies.

“This operation has been instrumental in curbing all forms of criminal activities and fostering a safer environment for all in the state,” Bakori stated, emphasising the massive reduction in crimes achieved within one month.

He explained that the suspects included 17 armed robbers, 57 thugs (Yan-Daba), nine motor vehicle thieves, eight drug dealers, five motorcycle thieves and nine thieves.

The CP said the command recovered Tramadol and Pregabalin tablets worth N82.7 million from some suspects in Rimin Auzinawa Quarters, who will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for prosecution.

He said other recovery included three AK-47 rifles, three English pistols, three revolver pistols, one locally made AK-47 rifle, one Dane gun, two locally made pistols, seven rounds of live ammunition, 42 motor vehicles, two tricycles, 13 motorcycles and three cows.

Bakori said a substantial quantity of drugs was seized, including 603 packets of Tramadol tablets (60,300 pieces valued at N60.3 million), six cartons of Pregabalin capsules (44,850 pieces valued at N22.4 million) and 523 parcels of suspected cannabis sativa.

Other exhibits included 58 dangerous weapons such as swords, cutlasses, knives, axes and five Point of Sales (PoS) machines.

Bakori praised Kano residents for their cooperation and urged continued support through the provision of credible information.

“The Kano State Police Command remains committed to its constitutional mandate of protecting lif and property, maintaining law and order, and preventing crimes,” he said.
