Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested two suspected kidnappers allegedly terrorising residents of Lafia and Dooma local government areas.

The suspects are Abubakar Abdullahi, 28, of Jalti Village, Dass LGA of Bauchi State and Abdullahi Isah, 32, of Tudun Alaramma, Doma LGA, Nasarawa State.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the suspects were arrested by operatives of Doma division on September 28, 2025, acting on complaints by some residents of Saman Laraba, Doma and others from Lafia, that unknown persons had been threatening them through phone calls for over two months, demanding a ransom of ₦3,000,000 or risk being kidnapped.

“Further investigations revealed that the same suspects had been contacting several residents in Doma, demanding ransom, which some victims had paid.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to having extorted between ₦6 million and ₦7 million from individuals in both Doma and Lafia LGAs.

“The commissioner of police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has ordered the transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lafia, for discreet investigation.

“He reassures the public of the command’s unwavering commitment to fighting crime and urges residents to continue to provide timely and useful information to the police to ensure a safer society,” Nansel stated.
