Flood: Foundation Assists 1,200 Jigawa Families

A non-governmental organisation Baba Azumi Foundation has donated relief materials to 1,200 flood victims in three local government areas of Jigawa State.

At the presentation of the materials the chairman of the foundation, Barrister Aisha Suleiman Jahun said the donation was given in collaboration with Action Aid and STARFUND Partners.

She said the assistance was given to minimize the hardship experienced by the victims following the flood which damaged their houses, properties and sources of livelihood.

Jahun said the relief materials included N20,000 to each woman in the family, foods, personal/environmental sanitary materials, clothes among others.

“We have sourced and presented this relief materials to assist the flood victims to reduce their hardship, improve personal and environmental hygiene to avoid disease outbreak in the affected communities.

“We are not doing anything new but we are doing our own part to complement the effort of governments, individuals and other organisations who are assisting the flood victims in Jigawa State and other parts of the country,” she said.

She reiterated the commitment of Baba Azumi Foundation to support the less privileged, disaster victims and victims of social violence in the society.
