In a statement issued by its International Spokesman, Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke, IAWPA described the late Commandant as a man whose life and service were defined by peace and security.

“On behalf of IAWPA, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Commandant Agun Gbenga. His untimely death is a tremendous loss, but we take solace in the fact that he died promoting peace and security, values he upheld throughout his career,” Nkweke said.

He added that Commandant Gbenga’s commitment to peace and security will continue to be remembered.

“His passing will galvanize our resolve to push for greater peace advocacy initiatives, not only in Edo State but across Nigeria. We believe that his legacy will continue to inspire efforts toward building a safer, more peaceful society for all,” the statement further noted.

To honour his memory, IAWPA announced that every October 2 will henceforth be dedicated to peace programmes across the country. According to the group, the annual initiatives will serve as a tribute to Gbenga’s lifelong devotion to peace and tolerance.
