Speaking during the occasion of the Technical Working Group on Migration and Development yesterday in Abuja, Sulaiman-Ibrahim, noted that the commitment of stakeholders wa highly appreciated, as no single agency of government could do it all alone.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim noted that the Technical Working Group (TWG) was the second highest level of Migration Governance in Nigeria, as recognised in the National Migration Policy (NMP).

“The TWG provides a platform for reporting on their activities; highlighting their achievements, challenges, and recommendations, with a view to proffering solutions.

“I would like to appreciate the thematic leads for their dogged commitment to designing and implementing relevant programmes that have strengthened the migration governance architecture of Nigeria over the past several months.

“Their effective engagement with relevant stakeholders in their respective thematic groups have yielded dividends across the board,” she added.

Earlier, the deputy chief of mission and head of programmes, International Organization for Migration; Nigeria, Ms. Prestage Murima, said the overall objective of this meeting was to enhance effective collaboration, coordination, and information sharing among all stakeholders involved in migration management in Nigeria.

“The preceding meetings of the five sub-groups were supported financially by the “Individual Measure for the EU Initiative in Sub-Saharan Africa” project (SMP) financed by the Neighbourhood Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI) within the framework of the EU-IOM Joint Initiative for Migrant Protection and Reintegration, with additional support from the “Cooperation on Migration and Partnerships to Achieve Sustainable Solutions initiative (COMPASS)” project of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and from the GIZ – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit,” she added.6
