Kebbi State Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), in collaboration with ‘Operation Whirlwind’ has intercepted banned items worth N109. 595,761 in three weeks.
The command’s comptroller, Mahmoud Ibrahim, announced this to journalists at a news conference held at the command’s headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.
The items, according to him, included 100 bales of second- hand clothings, 444 laptop, wraps of cannibis sativa, 143 mini sacks of donkey meat, 140 cartoons of foreign spaghetti, 100 bags of foreign parboiled rice and 20 jerry-cans of vegetables oil put at duty paid valued (DPV) of N109,595,761.
Ibrahim said barely three weeks after assuming office, he led a management team on courtesy visits designed to foster inter-agency collaboration, build trust, enhance intelligence sharing, and ensure effective reinforcement when needed.
He said, “ I intend to embark on a comprehensive tour of our border stations, covering Kamba, Dolekaina, Bagudo, Maje, Sabgana/Tsamiya and Lolo, to inspect operations and assess challenges first-hand.”
The comptroller noted that under his leadership, the Kebbi State Area Command will remain steadfast in addressing challenges and improving identified grey areas through innovation, collaboration, and unwavering dedication, thereby contributing meaningfully to safeguarding the national economy and ensuring the nation’s security.
He later handed over the seized items to the Comptrollers of NDLEA, NAFDAC and the Qurantine in the state for necessary action.
