The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Interim Management Committee has appealed to Nigerian youths to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could lead to unrest ahead of the planned protest scheduled for October 20, 2025.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Barr. Buhari Shehu, the council noted that the Federal Government, through the Nigerian Police Force, had obtained an order from the Federal High Court in Abuja restraining the organisers from holding or participating in the protest.
Shehu also referenced an advisory issued by the United States Embassy in Abuja, cautioning American citizens in Nigeria to steer clear of the protest areas as a security precaution.
“In light of these developments, we urge all Nigerian youths to exercise restraint and stay out of trouble. We are concerned that the planned protest may lead to a breakdown of law and order, which could endanger lives and property,” Shehu said.
He called on young people to prioritise peace, stability, and national security, adding that there are lawful and constructive channels through which grievances can be expressed.
The NYCN reiterated its commitment to promoting youth welfare, peace, and national development, stressing the need for collective responsibility in safeguarding the country.
“We have no other nation than Nigeria. Let us all work together to protect and preserve it,” the statement added.
