Kwara Killings: Police Arrest 5 Suspects

The Kwara State Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with the September 28, 2025 attack in Oke-Ode, Ifelodun local government area of the state during which 15 people, including forest guards and the traditional chief of Ogba Ayo, were killed by suspected bandits.

The State’s Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the Command’s headquarters in Ilorin, the state capital on Friday.

The suspects were Umar Babuga, Mohammed Ahmed, Aliyu Buba Alade, Sidi Buba Alade and Shehu Buba Alade

“The Kwara State Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with the Oke- Ode incident of September 28, 2025. They are currently in custody and are undergoing investigation,” the police commissioner said.

CP Ojo disclosed that additional 16 suspected criminals, including six suspected kidnappers, were arrested during the period under review.

He added that 50 rounds of live ammunitions were also recovered during the period.

“This briefing aims at keeping you abreast with the command’s sustained crime-fighting efforts with credible information and technology-led policing.

“The Command has achieved notable successes through coordinated field operations, actionable intelligence, and inter-agency collaboration. These efforts demonstrate our commitment to zero tolerance for all forms of violent crime and our determination to bring perpetrators to justice,” Ojo said.

He restated the Command ‘s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, maintaining public order, and combating all forms of criminal activities within the state.

“Through proactive policing and intelligence-led operations, we have recorded significant breakthroughs in our efforts to ensure the safety and security of our citizens in the last one month,” he added .

CP Ojo listed the offences for which the suspects were arrested to include culpable homicide, criminal conspiracy, aiding and abetting kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms, criminal intimidation, sexual abuse and exploitation of a child and possession of hard drugs, amongst others.

He assured the public of the Command’s continued dedication to excellence in service delivery, professionalism, transparency, and accountability.

He urged members of the public to partner with the police in their efforts to maintain peace and security in the state.

Ojo praised the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his support for the security agencies in the state and for his efforts which culminated in the deploying of a full Army Brigade to the state.

He said the said relative calm has returned to the troubled parts of the state through the concerted efforts of the newly deployed Army Brigade and other security agencies.
