The Senate of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUST), Wudil in Kano State has expelled 34 students and rusticated 13 others for one academic session over their involvement in examination malpractice during the 2024/2025 first semester examinations.
This is contained in a statement issued by the head of information, publications and public relations unit of the university, Abdullahi Datti, who said the decision followed the approval of the report of the Examinations Regulations and Irregularities Committee (ERIC) at the 123rd meeting of the university’s Senate held on October 9, 2025.
According to the statement, nine other students were issued formal warnings for minor infractions. The Senate’s decision, Datti said, reflected the university’s zero tolerance for examination misconduct and its resolve to uphold academic integrity and discipline.
In another development, the university has established a Centre for Equipment Maintenance to enhance the reliability and efficiency of academic and research equipment across departments.
The new centre, according to Datti, was designed to develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, provide prompt repair services, and ensure optimal performance of laboratory and research tools.
It will also maintain a comprehensive equipment database, offer technical support for procurement processes, and conduct training for staff and students on proper equipment usage and maintenance.
He added that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, had approved the appointment of Engr. Dr. Murtala Sule Dambatta of the Department of Mechanical Engineering as the pioneer Director of the Centre, with Technologist Muhammad Isa as Deputy Director. Both appointments are for a period of two years.
