Radda Swears In New Commissioners, Perm Secs

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has sworn in three new commissioners and eight permanent secretaries. He sternly reminded them that leadership positions are responsibilities to serve the people with integrity and are not rewards for loyalty.

At the ceremony at the Government House yesterday, Governor Radda said the appointments reflect his administration’s resolve to strengthen the civil service, promote inclusiveness, and enhance performance across ministries and agencies.

“This government is now almost two and a half years in office. It is, therefore, time for us to reassess what we have done so far and reposition people in various capacities to strengthen the system,” he said.

Governor Radda praised the appointees for their competence, dedication, and proven service records.

He described Hon. Yusuf Suleiman Jibia as “the oldest politician in the cabinet,” commending his vast experience in governance and public administration.

On Hajiya Aisha Aminu, the governor said her promotion from director-general of the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA) to commissioner was a recognition of her impressive performance and her role in empowering youth and women entrepreneurs across the state.

“Because of her performance and my desire to bring more women into government. I decided to elevate her to the position of commissioner,” Radda stated.

He hailed Engr. Dr Sirajo Yusuf Abukur as a symbol of youthful innovation in public service. Radda noted his accomplishments as head of KASROMA, where he improved road construction and maintenance across Katsina’s 34 local government areas.

“We need to bring in young people into government so that we can harness their energy, creativity, and drive for development,” the governor said, adding that Sirajo’s appointment ensures fair representation for Rimi local government area, which has not produced a commissioner since 1999.

Turning to the permanent secretaries, Governor Radda said their appointments were part of a broader reform agenda to professionalise and rejuvenate the state civil service.

“You represent competence, discipline, and professionalism. We expect you to be the driving force behind efficient service delivery,” he charged.

Yusuf Ahmed, Aminu Ibrahim, Aishatu Abdullahi, Dasuki Ibrahim Abubakar, Lawal Abashe, Ado Yahaya, Sani Rabi’u Jibiya, and Nasiru Ladan were among those sworn in.
