The Abuja International Theatre Festival and Awards (ABITFA) 2025, which runs from November 5 to 8, will focus on inclusivity and green economy transition in the performing arts space.

Themed ‘Innovidclusion’ an acronym for innovation, inclusion and identity, the festival will open with an inclusive theatrical production titled ‘Mosaic Of Us’ on November 5 and 7.

An original play and collaboration between Arojah Royal Theatre (ART) and Inclusive Friends Association (IFA), ‘Mosaic Of Us’ portrays the perspective of five different-abled characters as they navigate life and their vocations through the lens of disability, neurodiversity and cultural exclusion.

Likewise, on November 6, the festival will host a hybrid panel session on ‘Inclusive Theatre Practice’, in addition to an IETM-focused play titled ‘Richie’s Obsequies’ later the same day.

Towards innovation in the theatric space, ABITFA partnered with IIAN to host a masterclass on ‘Green Transitioning In Performing Arts Space’ on November 6. Other masterclasses include a hybrid ‘Drama Therapy’ workshop on November 5, a ‘Poetry Masterclass with Ola Majekodunmi’ on November 8, and a ‘Dance Entropy Workshop’ from November 5 – 6, which ends with a dance performance on November 7. There is also an ACYTA event, and a ‘Conversation with Valery Green’ session.

The festival ends on November 8 with Awards Night.
