Yobe State Government has sponsored 149 civil servants for capacity-building training at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Lagos.

Speaking during the Send-off ceremony, the Yobe State Acting Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa Shehu, called the participants to be worthy state ambassadors and demonstrate excellence throughout the training.

Represented by Alhaji Abbas Isah Bizi, Permanent Secretary, Manpower Development, Shehu said the initiative was part of the administration’s commitment to improving efficiency in the civil service.

He said, “Let me tell you that the government is not merely sending you for training; it is investing in the future of Yobe State,” said Shehu.

“The knowledge and skills you will acquire are vital to enhancing the performance of our workforce,” Shehu stated.

He also commended the state Governor, Mai Mala Buni, for his dedication to human capital development.

He added that millions of naira had been invested in similar training programmes within and outside Nigeria, including Kaduna, Kano, Abuja, and Saudi Arabia. According to him, such investments reflect the government’s belief that a well-trained workforce is key to effective governance and service delivery.

The Focal Person on Training and Succession Plan, Ibrahim Bulama Yusuf, described the exercise as historic, noting that the government fully sponsored all 149 participants.

Yusuf added that the remaining 32 will attend the one-week Effective Communication course.

He said the exercise demonstrates Governor Buni’s strong commitment to developing a competent and result-oriented civil service in Yobe State.

Leadership gathered that the participants, drawn from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), include 48 directors undergoing Advanced Human Resource Management and 69 Ministry of Finance staff participating in Financial Resource Management courses.
