Kango replaced Dr. Lydia Haruna Tsammani, who has been redeployed to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development. The reshuffle comes on the heels of the recent removal of Hajiya Zainab Baban Takko as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development.
The swearing-in ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Bauchi. Other officials sworn in included Hajiya Jummai Salamatu Abubakar as chairperson, Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC); Iliya Isa executive chairman, Dambam local government area; Babaji Idris Shehu as auditor-general for Local Governments; Abubakar Usman Misau as permanent commissioner, BASIEC.

Governor Mohammed said the appointments were made to fill vacancies created by resignations, retirements, and deaths of previous officeholders.

He emphasised that the selections were based on merit, experience, and the administration’s commitment to equity and inclusiveness.

While congratulating the appointees, the governor urged them to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability in their service delivery, warning against the abuse of office or the pursuit of personal interests.

He particularly charged the new Commissioner for Higher Education, Hajiya Kango who swapped portfolios with Dr. Tsammani to align herself with the government’s policy direction and collaborate closely with her ministry’s permanent secretary to achieve its objectives.
