3 Months After APC Chair Appointment, Yilwatda Still Listed As Minister On Ministry’s Website

Three months after his election as National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda is still officially listed as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction on the ministry’s website.

LEADERSHIP reports that Yilwatda’s last position before his emergence as APC National Chairman was the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

Howeber, checks on Thursday revealed that Yilwatda’s profile remains active on the ministry’s official portal, where he was described as “Hon. Minister, Prof. Nentawe G. Yilwatda.” The page also still features a summary of his ministerial duties, despite his assumption of the APC chairmanship in July.

Recall that Yilwatda was elected as the APC National Chairman on July 24, 2025, during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja. His nomination was moved by Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma, and seconded by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, after which he was immediately sworn in to lead the party.

However, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction (FMHAPR) appears not to have updated its website to reflect his exit. The digital oversight also extends to the ministry’s official Facebook page, which still bears its old name, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, despite a formal renaming of the ministry earlier in the year.

Meanwhile, the ministerial seat left vacant by Yilwatda is expected to be filled soon, following the nomination of Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State as his likely successor.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the ministry nor the APC had issued any official statement regarding the misinformation.
