The Bauchi State government has appointed six judges for the Small Claims Court for quick access to justice in the state.

The appointed judges have been inaugurated and have been given an orientation programme ahead of their assumption of duty.

Confirming the development, Chief Judge of Bauchi State, Justice Rabi Umar, said the essence of appointing the Small Claims Court was to decongest the regular court, which eliminates technical procedure, adding that they are inexpensive and easy to access.

She explained that the Small Claims Court are accessible to people at all levels, especially the grassroots who are mostly not literate.

The Chief Judge said they are a specialised type of court that have simplified procedures for simple monitoring of commercial disputes at the district Court level, even without a lawyer, and each case should be completed within two months or less.
