A yet-to-be identified man, on Friday, slumped due to exhaustion during the rescheduled election of the Parents Teachers Association of the Federal Government Girls College Owerri, the Imo state capital.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:10pm after parents and teachers had been accredited for the election scheduled to begin after accreditation at 10am.
Parents and teachers had been subjected to another round of accreditation after the first one during which the electoral committee directed people to vacate the school hall.
It was during the re-accreditation process that the about 60 years old man slumped on the floor.
It took the spirited efforts of medical doctors among the parents to revive the man though there was no ambulance stationed for the about 1000 people on ground.
Parents were seen running around to look for carbonated drinks and water to boost his sugar level and to revive him.
Leadership Weekend confirmed that the man was revived and later joined the voting process.
Some parents condemned the none provision of health professionals whereas the election venue was flooded with police officers and operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).
The election was scheduled to hold on June 15, 2025 but did not hold after the election committee failed to commence voting till about 3pm.
Meanwhile, there is heavy presence of Police and Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp officials to ensure no security breaches.
