The management of Benue Investment and Property Company BIPC) has unveiled its plans to transform Benue State from a consumption-based economy into a manufacturing powerhouse.
The managing director, Dr Raymond Asemakaha, who made this known during the unveiling of the company’s new bread factory in Gboko local government said the bakery is one among the giant steps toward making Benue an industrialised state.
Dr Asemakaha who described Gboko as a vibrant and commercially strategic town in the state that needed all the necessary government support, added that the project was one of the ongoing economic revitalisation in the state.
He announced that the Gboko factory was the third bakery the company has opened so far, saying the fourth factory would be opened in Otukpo in the Benue South Senatorial District.
“The aim of all these is to turn Benue State which is adjudged by many as a consumption-based economy into a manufacturing powerhouse and the bakery is a giant step in that direction”
“The MD said the company will continue to roll out projects in construction, manufacturing, and other sectors to ensure that all the 23 LGAs feel the positive economic impact of the Alia’s administration”
He commended Gov Alia for providing support and visionary leadership that has made the project, and many others a reality.
“To the people of Gboko, this bakery is yours. We urge you to own it, protect it, and patronise it. Let the sweet aroma of freshly baked bread be the smell of progress and prosperity for this great community,”
In her remarks, Chief Elizabeth Shuluwa, the BIPC Board Chairman said the company was only trying to stabilise prices of basic commodities for the good of the people.
She said, “government was establishing these cottage industries to further create an enabling environment for the private sector to thrive”
“The new board will continue to support the management to succeed so I am urging you all to support the government of Alia and as well expect more from the company.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment Alumo Orpin said the ministry will continue to work behind the scene to ensure that the company delivers on its mandate.
