The Kebbi State government has convened an interfaith prayer gathering to address the prevailing security challenges in the state and the nation.

The event, which took place in Birnin Kebbi, attracted Islamic and Christian faithful from across the state.

In his speech, Governor Nasir Idris stressed the importance of sustained prayers in maintaining peace, unity and harmony within the state.

“It is unrealistic to expect any state to be completely free from security concerns. Security should be treated as a collective responsibility, not a political tool.

“Claims suggesting that Kebbi or Nigeria lacks peace, or that there is tension between Muslims and Christians, are baseless. We stand united today, Muslims and Christians alike, seeking divine assistance to overcome our security challenges,” he stated.

The governor expressed gratitude to the religious leaders and participants for their presence and encouraged them to continue praying for the state’s progress and prosperity.

The prayer session, organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, was aimed at seeking divine intervention in tackling banditry, kidnapping and other security threats facing the nation.

Notable attendees included minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Atiku Bagudu; former Governor Sa’idu Dakingari and APC national organising secretary, Alhaji Sulaiman Argungu.
