Members of the Abia State House of Assembly have passed a vote of confidence on the leaders of the House under the speakership of Emmanuel Emeruwa for purposeful leadership.
This followed a motion moved on Friday by the member representing Ohafia South, Kalu Mba Nwoke and supported by his colleague for Osisioma South, Fine Ahuama.
He recalled how the speaker and other members of the leadership have peacefully steered the ship of the House, comprising members of three political parties as one family.
In another development, Nwoke has urged the state government to conduct palliative work on the Umuahia-Bende-Ohafia federal road to ease the sufferings of the users.
Nwoke, who made the appeal under Matter of Urgent Public Importance, drew the attention of the government to “a very dangerous spot before Ozu Abam from Ohafia which has become a deathtrap.”
The chairman of the House Committee on Environment and Urban Renewal added that such intervention had become necessary and urgent as the festive periods are approaching fast..
The House also took the second reading of H.A.B. 38: The Abia State Youth Technical and Entrepreneurial Training sponsored by the member representing Isiala Ngwa South Rowland Dennis.
In his lead debate, Dennis said the piece of legislation seeks to help standardise youth technical and entrepreneurial training, among others, and urged his colleagues to support the bill.
