A socio-cultural pressure Igbo group, Igbo Union/Nzuko Ndi Igbo, has called on President Bola Tinibu to give honour to whom honour is due as part of a political strategy that will be aimed at enabling synergy with some state governors who are in the forefront of delivering dividends of democracy to the people of their respective states
The group, through a press statement in Abuja yesterday, signed by its Convener, Prince Elias Odoemena,, specifically singled out Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, whom it said had tremendously impacted on the people of Abia State through the provision of dividends of democracy in the state in the area of human capital developments, provision of road infractructure, building of hospitals, health centres, electricity, among others
The group Convener believed that President Tinibu should, as a matter of statesmanship, continuously make Gov Otti and other “performing governors”as reference points for political leaders, irrespective of party affiliations.
“Governor Otti and some governors are seriously delivering dividends of democracy in their respective states, thereby following the footsteps of our great president, who has been a torchbearer on issue of delivery of democratic dividends, “he said.
Prince Odomena, through the statement said such democratic milestones in some states especially in Abia State couldn’t have been possible if not for the political ingenuity of Tinubu who opened the doors for state governments to have more money in their treasuries and the doggedness and economic savvy of some state governors, who made serious political and economic differences in their respective states, where the people are now feeing the dividends of democracy fully.
He went on to praise Governor Otti for what he described as raising the bar of governance in the last two years, by turning Abia Sate to “the most secure state in the country to transact business, with modern infractructure provided in various towns in the state.”
Prince Odoemena urged the governor not to be distracted by utterances of “failed politicians,” but should rather be more focused on his drive to make Abia State number one in all human development indices.
