The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is set to host the maiden edition of its Digital Awareness and Sensitisation Fora, a strategic platform designed to deepen policy, innovation, and inclusion within Nigeria’s evolving digital economy.

Scheduled to hold on November 13, 2025, the inaugural forum, themed, “Leaving No One Behind: Digital Assets, Equity, and Empowerment,” will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and community stakeholders to chart practical strategies for bridging Nigeria’s digital divide and expanding access to opportunities in the digital space.

According to the NCC, the forum aims to create a conducive environment for building infrastructure that supports innovation and inclusion, while laying a strong foundation for aligning policy development with infrastructure expansion to foster national growth.

Sessions at the event will focus on inclusive digital policy design, accessible infrastructure deployment, adaptive digital literacy programmes, and advocacy for affordability and accessibility in digital services, all aimed at ensuring that every Nigerian can participate meaningfully in the digital economy.

Africa, with 60 percent of its population under the age of 25, represents the world’s youngest region, and Nigeria accounts for a significant share of that demographic. The NCC said it recognizes this as an untapped asset and remains committed to leveraging the potential of the country’s youthful population while promoting digital inclusion across all social and economic segments.

The commission further emphasised that, beyond driving innovation, the sensitisation series would highlight the importance of safety and inclusive participation for Nigeria’s over 140 million Internet users, ensuring that no demographic group is left behind in the digital transition.

The Digital Awareness and Sensitization Fora is a collaborative effort involving a broad coalition of stakeholders across the public and private sectors, including the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Association of Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ATCON), FintechNGR, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Terra Industries, Association of Nigerian Inventors (ANI), Secondary Education Board (SEB), Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC), Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Imose Technologies, and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

The event will also feature panel discussions, exhibitions, and showcases by innovators, fintech organisations, and students, providing a platform to demonstrate the creativity and ingenuity driving Nigeria’s digital ecosystem.

To ensure broad participation, the forum will be livestreamed, allowing Nigerians across all regions to join the conversations on equity, empowerment, and innovation.
