Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, has conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree, Honoris Causa (Doctor of Business Administration), on the Chief Executive Officer of Landover Company and Managing Director of Overland Airways, Captain Edward Boyo, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s aviation industry.
Capt. Boyo was honoured for his exemplary leadership, innovation, and decades of commitment to the growth and transformation of the aviation sector. According to the institution, the award celebrates an individual “whose outstanding contributions to the aviation sector continue to inspire excellence, innovation, and leadership.”
The conferment ceremony, which took place on November 1, 2025, at the university auditorium, was attended by family members, friends, and dignitaries from across the country, as well as a management delegation from Landover Company and Overland Airways.
The event was also graced by the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi.
In his acceptance speech, Capt. Boyo expressed profound gratitude to the university, noting that the honour would further encourage him to contribute to the development of Nigeria’s air transport sector.
“I am deeply delighted to receive this recognition and wish to extend my gratitude to the leadership of Bowen University for this honour,” he said. “This honour will spur me further to continue making my contributions to Nigeria’s air transport industry in particular and the economy in general. I assure the Bowen University community that I will be a worthy ambassador of this great institution and continue on the path of excellence, investing in our people and systems to ensure a better aviation sector in Nigeria.”
Also speaking, the executive director of Landover Company and Overland Airways Limited, Aduke Atiba, praised the achievement, describing Capt. Boyo’s leadership was transformational.
“The management and staff of Landover Company and Overland Airways Limited extend our warmest congratulations to Capt. Boyo on this well-deserved honour,” she said. “This recognition reinforces our belief in the excellence culture we strive for daily. His leadership has been nothing but transformational, and we are proud of this achievement.”
Meanwhile, during the ceremony, Capt. Boyo presented a cash donation and a Master’s Degree scholarship to Miss Lotechukwu Ikpo of the Economics Department, who emerged the overall best graduating student with a perfect 5.00 CGPA.
