JUST-IN: Alaafin Names Bilaal Akinola As New Chief Imam Of Oyo

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, has appointed Alhaji (Barrister) Bilaal Oseni Akinola, as the new Chief Imam of Oyo land.

The appointment was contained in a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity to the monarch, Bode Durojaye, saying the letter of appointment was personally signed by the Alaafin.

Oba Owoade heartily rejoiced for Allah”s mercy bestowed on Akinola as a respectable Islamic leader.

“The moment is not only significant for our people, but also sacred in the eyes of Allah, for leadership in Islam is a truth that demands humility, sincerity and justice,” the Alaafin said.

Akinola was born on 15th April, 1965, to Alhaji Shaykh Imam Billal Akano Ogunbado of Imam Ogunbado compound, Akeugberu, Oyo, Oyo West local government area, Oyo State.

He obtained his Bachelor of Law (LL. B) degree from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
