The initiative made this statement during a courtesy visit to the media outlet at its corporate headquarters in Abuja yesterday.

Speaking on the matter, the Project lead and proprietor of the group, John Adoga, said it has been distributing books from all regions of Nigeria to help children learn about diverse cultures and confront ethnic stereotypes.

“Adults often cling to biases, but children read openly and take in lessons without prejudice,” he said.
According to him, since its inception, the programme has reached nearly 15,000 children, with a long-term target of 10 million.

Adoga stressed that partnerships with media outlets like LEADERSHIP Newspaper would be key to expanding its reach.

Also speaking, Susan Ajayi of the ‘On The Street Foundation,’ a project partner, emphasised the enthusiasm among pupils.

On her part, the Managing Editor, LEADERSHIP, Raliat Ahmed Yusuf,
commended the initiative, describing its efforts to promote literacy among children as timely and impactful.

She noted that the programme’s work was particularly significant in this age and time, where reading culture is fast eroding.

“What the initiative is doing is very commendable, especially in this age and time where reading culture is fast eroding.

“Encouraging children to read is a very good and important thing, and I must commend the initiative for taking up this role,” she added.
