Ezeh Raises Concern Over Alleged Interference In Constituency Matter

Labour Party candidate for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, Dr. Emmanuel Ezeh, has raised concern over what he described as alleged interference by a fellow lawmaker in matters affecting his constituency, urging all parties to allow ongoing political processes to run without tension.

Ezeh accused Hon. Chinedu Ogah, member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, of involving himself in issues relating to Abakaliki/Izzi, particularly in the handling of two men accused of threatening his life.

According to him, “It remains unclear why a lawmaker from a different constituency is consistently inserting himself into matters that concern Abakaliki/Izzi. My position has been that due process must be followed to avoid unnecessary tension.”

He alleged that Ogah facilitated the release of the suspects and later submitted what he referred to as a questionable reconciliation report to security agencies.

He added that his conditions for reconciliation—including a public apology from the suspects—were not met, resulting in what he described as a collapse of the peace process.

Ezeh said he has instructed his legal team to petition the Speaker of the House of Representatives over what he termed “obstruction of justice and abuse of legislative privilege,” adding that further legal action would be taken if “genuine efforts to address the matter” were not shown on or before November 17.

The Labour Party candidate also called on Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, to clarify claims reportedly attributed to Ogah that his involvement was based on directives from the state government.

“I do not believe the governor sanctioned such actions, which is why a public clarification is necessary to avoid misinterpretation and unnecessary tension,” he said.

In a separate remark, Ezeh described the situation as “unfortunate,” noting that it needed to be properly documented for the sake of clarity moving forward.

He maintained his commitment to peaceful political engagement but stressed that threats to his safety or due process would not be overlooked.

The development has added a new dimension to political activities in the state, with observers monitoring how the petition and subsequent steps may shape interactions among political actors in the days ahead.
