Farmers in Bauchi State have called on the Tinubu-led Federal Government to evolve a policy initiative that could bring down prices of agricultural inputs and implements across the country.

The appeal was made by the state patron of Farmers Voice for Tinubu (FV4T), Alh Sagir Aminu while speaking with journalists yesterday in Bauchi.

He noted with dissatisfaction how farmers in the state and generally in the North cultivated their crops this outgoing rainy season due to the high prices of agricultural inputs and implements.
Alh Saleh, a former deputy governor of the state, was responding to an award of patron bestowed on him by the FV4T at a ceremony held in Bauchi.

Saleh said, “I passionately request an initiative that would lead to the reduction in the prices of agricultural inputs, implements, especially fertiliser, agro-chemicals, agricultural implements, among others, to facilitate bumper harvest and ensure food security for the nation.”

According to the former deputy governor, the initiative, when evolved by the Tinubu-led administration, will boost agricultural developments and galvanise support from farmers at the grassroots for the re-election of the president, Bola Tinubu and the vice president, Kashim Shettima, in the 2027 presidential election.

Others bestowed with the awards of patron and ambassadorship are Hajiya Sadiya Kabir (patron), Engr Ali Abdullahi (patron), with the position of ambassadorship going to Alh Idris Mohammed Abdullahi and Hajiya Saude Yakubu Wanka.

The former deputy governor said, “It is a privilege to contribute to the mobilisation of support for a second tenure for our president, Bola Tinubu come 2027.
We supported the Tinubu/Shettima ticket, we are supporting and we’ll continue to support this re-election bid.”

A big-time cotton farmer, the former governor recalled that the Tinubu-led administration has, for the past few years, initiated programmes that have led drastically to the fall in prices of food items and other essential commodities.

Saleh also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing two prominent sons of Bauchi State as ministers, and other various federal appointments in his cabinet, including former Bauchi State governor, Malam Isa Yuguda, as chairman of the National Open University of Nigeria.
