Following the reappointment of the chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), General Muhammed Buba Marwa (rtd), the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has declared that the reappointment was motivated by the retired general’s sterling performance in office.
Celebrating him for his reappointment for another five-year term, MURIC’s executive director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, in a statement yesterday, urged him to remain focused, undaunted and relentless in his efforts to rid Nigeria of drug addiction.
“The chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), General Muhammed Buba Marwa (rtd), has been reappointed for another five-year term.
“The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) hereby felicitates, identifies and solidarises with General Marwa on his reappointment.
“We have no scintilla of doubt that this reappointment was motivated by the retired general’s sterling performance in office, his impressive pedigree and his unquestionable integrity.
“It would be recalled that General Muhammed Buba Marwa as the governor of Lagos State gave the state the tricycle option which became a unique panacea for its perennial traffic quagmire.
“This initiative later cascaded down to other states of the federation and today the general’s name (Marwa) is synonymous with the tricycle everywhere in Nigeria.
”It was this indefatigable energy and burning passion for excellence and dedication that the retired general took to NDLEA.
“The result has been the numerous seizures and countless successful raids that turned the anti-drug agency into a nightmare for drug barons and their stooges and minions.’’
