Kwara Church Attack: Actress Bukola Arugba Says 3 Relatives Abducted, Counters Official Claims

Nollywood actress Oluwabukola Awoyemi, popularly known as Bukola Arugba, has raised the alarm that three of her close relatives were among those abducted during the recent attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, in Eruku, Ekiti local government area of Kwara State.

Arugba made the claim in an Instagram video while reacting to what she described as conflicting and misleading reports about the incident, particularly a statement attributed to the Kwara State First Lady, Prof. Olufolake AbdulRazaq, which suggested the attack was merely “attempted” on the worshippers.

A video of armed men invading the church during a programme on Tuesday night had gone viral, with reports indicating that several worshippers were abducted and three killed.

Arugba, who hails from Eruku, insisted that the attack was not only successful but also fatal.

“I read a press release on the Kwara State First Lady’s page regarding the bandit attack in my home, Eruku, which totally contradicts the sad truth,” she said.

“This video is to address and correct the report released on your page, Ma’am. The information you got from the Kwara State police is false.”

She explained that residents of the community, including her family members, witnessed the attack in real time.

“It was a successful attack, not an attempted attack,” she stressed. “I was in so much pain when I saw the release claiming nobody died and that people were in the hospital. A lot of people were abducted; three people are dead.”

The actress identified two of her abducted relatives as Evangelist Titi Balogun, her mother’s younger sister, and Ebenezer Aina, her cousin’s son.

“I have spoken to a lot of people from my town, my cousins, my uncles. Presently, three to four of my cousins are in the bandits’ den. Everyone is crying in my town now because we don’t know if they will be found dead or alive,” she added.

Arugba also accused authorities of downplaying the incident, saying the official narrative “totally contradicts what actually happened”.

“Something like that happened, and the direct opposite of what was being reported was the actual outcome,” Arugba said.

Further addressing the First Lady, she added; “It is so painful that we are seeing what was posted on your page. The reports on your page are false. They totally contradict what actually happened.”
