Bauchi State chapter of the Association of Local Governments in Nigeria (ALGON) has inaugurated education committees across its 20 local government areas in a fresh move to reduce the number of out-of-school children and strengthen basic education enrollment.

Chairman of the chapter, Mahmood Babamaji, said this during the 2025 World Children’s Day celebration in Bauchi.  Babamaji said the committees, made up of traditional rulers, religious and community leaders, were designed to drive school enrollment and close persistent gaps in access to basic education.

He described early progress as encouraging and urged children across the state to stay committed to their studies and pursue their dreams with determination.

The chairman said ALGON had contributed N100 million to the Child Nutrition Fund.

He added that authorities were intensifying efforts to ensure that every child is identified, registered and supported to attend school.
