Islamic Bank Gives $2m Grant To Kebbi Women, Youths

Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has earmarked $2 million as revolving fund for Kebbi State to be given as grants to 100,00 women and youths.

The team leader of IDB, Alhaji Sabiu Auwal, disclosed this yesterday at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi when he led the officials of the bank to visit Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

Auwal told the governor that they were on a three-day appraisal mission of the agricultural potential of the state under the phase II of the National Food Security Programme with major financial support from the bank.

He said in recognition of the achievements recorded in the first phase of the scheme in Gombe, Yobe and Anambra states, the federal government extended the programme into the second phase of which Kebbi State had been included.

Auwal said the team would hold extensive discussions with relevant officials of the state government and interact with local farmers on different components of agriculture after which the members would submit a report to IDB management for implementation.
