Managing director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr. Buki Pole, has said the strides achieved by Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya are not given the needed media attention.

Ponle who acknowledged the developmental and infrastructural feats achieved by Governor Inuwa since he assumed office in May 2019, said only the achievements highlighted in the media are noted.

He spoke yesterday when the special adviser to the Gombe governor on strategy and information management, Ahmed Shuaibu-Gara Gombe, visited him at the NAN Headquarters in Abuja.

The NAN boss said, “No matter the achievements recorded by a government, nothing would be said about them if they are not in the media. At best, it would amount to clapping with only one hand.”

Ponle suggested that this, perhaps, is the reason why Governor Inuwa was excluded from the national honours awards conferred on some of his colleagues recently by the federal government.

He, however, said the agency would support the governor to ensure the propagation of his numerous people-oriented programmes in the state.

“As an agency, we are ready to all within our capacity and mandate to project Gombe State to the world in the shortest possible time,” he said.

Earlier, the governor’s aide called for cooperation between his office and the news agency.
