The Kano State Ministry of Education has released the 2025/2026 academic calendar, announcing that schools across the state will proceed on first term holiday from Saturday, December 13, 2025.
In the statement signed by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Ministry of Education, Musbahu Aminu Yakasa, the ministry stated that Saturday, 13th December 2025, has been approved as the commencement date of the first term vacation for all Day and Boarding public/private primary and post primary schools in the state.”l
Parents and guardians of boarding students were directed to convey their wards home on Friday, December 12, 2025.
The ministry further directed boarding schools’ pupils and Students are to resume back to their respective schools on Sunday 18th January, 2026, while day students are to resume on Monday 19th January, 2026.
According to the calendar, the second term will begin on Sunday, January 18, 2026, and end on Saturday, April 18, 2026, while the third term will commence on Sunday, May 3, 2026, and end on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
The statement also noted that pupils and students will observe 10 days fasting period in their respective schools before Sallah Break, adding that, “The Sallah Break will commence from Sunday 1st March, 2026 and ends on Saturday 21st March, 2026.”
Speaking on the development, the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, urged parents and guardians to ensure total compliance with the approved dates.
He also thanked parents and people of the state for the usual cooperation and support given to the ministry, while wishing the students and pupils a successful and hitch-free holiday.
