Police Nab Suspected Drug Dealer In Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug dealer, Mr. Ogbu Simon, and recovered a large consignment of narcotic substances valued at N12.2 million in Ningi Local Government Area of the State.

This was contained in a statement on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Ahmed Wakil.

According to Wakil, the arrest followed credible intelligence received on 26 November, 2025, when a concerned resident reported some suspicious sacks that were being offloaded at a shop owned by the suspect.

Police preliminary findings revealed that the suspect allegedly supplies narcotics from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Ningi and neighbouring communities.

Acting on the intelligence, a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ningi Division, CSP Surajo Ibrahim Birnin Kudu, carried out a strategic raid on the shop located within the town.

The operation led to the recovery of four sacks filled with suspected Tramadol and Diazepam tablets.

Following the development, Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for comprehensive investigation.

Aliyu also deployed the Operation Restore Peace (ORP) team, headed by CSP Abdulrazak Fada, to intensify efforts toward apprehending the suspect.

Items recovered from the suspect include 17,500 sachets of suspected Tramadol tablets and 487 packs of suspected Diazepam (D5), popularly called “Yellow Voice”.

The total street value of the seized narcotics is estimated at N12,200,000.

CP Aliyu reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating drug abuse and trafficking across the state.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting the police with timely information that can aid crime prevention.

Police said the suspect, along with the recovered exhibits, will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for investigation and prosecution.
