President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Senate President Godswill Akpabio on his 63rd birthday, describing him as a patriot and dedicated servant of the people whose commitment to building a better Nigeria has remained unwavering.
In a statement personally signed by him on Tuesday, President Tinubu rejoices with Senator Akpabio and joins his family, friends, associates and members of the National Assembly to celebrate the President of the Senate and his decades of exceptional leadership.
The President recalled Akpabio’s years as governor of Akwa Ibom State, noting that he was fondly called the “uncommon governor” by his people and led what he described as a remarkable transformation of the state.
According to the statement, Akpabio made Akwa Ibom State a top competitor in the national economy, provided infrastructure and built one of the most iconic stadia in the country, which the President said remains one of Nigeria’s best today.
Tinubu also highlighted Akpabio’s election to the Senate after leaving office as governor, as well as his service as Minister of the Niger Delta, during which he prioritised the region’s development.
He noted that as President of the Senate, Akpabio continues to foster executive-legislative harmony while promoting initiatives that advance national development, peace and security.
Tinubu further praised the Senate President’s personal character, stating, “As co-labourers in the service of our nation, I have always admired his strength of character and ability to remain undaunted even in the face of challenges.”
He also commended Akpabio’s unwavering belief in Nigeria and his commitment to its progress.
