Nigerian-Born International Activist, Dr. Raymond Edoh, has Urged the newly Appointed Minister of Defence, Gen. C.G. Musa (Rtd), to Prioritize welfare of troops
The international activist and good governance advocate, Dr. Raymond Edoh has called on the newly appointed Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), to place the welfare of military officers at the center of his agenda as he assumes office.
In a statement made available to the press today by Dr. Edoh, he described the current welfare condition of many frontline officers as “not fair enough” stressing that the men and women defending the nation deserve far better treatment.
According to him, proper feeding and welfare are fundamental to boosting the morale and efficiency of soldiers in active combat zones.
He stated:
“As a military officer in the battlefield, how would you do well or confront the enemy without proper feeding? Your morale will be low, and your bravery will be thwarted.”
Dr. Edoh further urged the Federal Government to provide Gen. Musa with the adequate financial resources required to strengthen the Armed Forces, noting that the Defence Minister cannot succeed without the budgetary backing and institutional support necessary to drive meaningful reforms.
He also called for a conducive working environment that will enable Gen. Musa to deliver on his responsibilities without unnecessary obstacles or political interference.
Additionally, Dr. Edoh emphasized that the Minister must be granted full autonomy to implement strategic policies that will enhance the performance of officers on the battlefield.
He insisted that giving Gen. Musa the freedom to initiate and enforce reforms is essential if Nigeria is to put an end to the persistent “eyesore of insurgency” affecting the nation.
While congratulating Gen. Musa on his appointment, Dr. Edoh urged him to rise to the expectations of Nigerians and deliver results that reflect the trust placed in him.
“I congratulate Gen. C.G. Musa (Rtd) on his appointment. Nigerians are hopeful, and he must not disappoint. The time has come for decisive leadership that prioritizes officer welfare, operational effectiveness, and the complete restoration of security across the country,” Dr. Edoh said.
Dr. Raymond Edoh reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for improved governance, stronger institutions, and a safer Nigeria for all.
