Kamurum Integrated Farms has empowered over 120 women entrepreneurs in the Jaba local government area of Kaduna State, reaffirming its commitment to grassroots economic growth and women-focused development.
The initiative, titled, “Upscaling Women-Owned SMEs in Jaba Local Government,” was held on Thursday at the Ham Event Centre in Kwoi, drawing participants from all 10 wards of the council.
The scheme forms part of Kamurum Integrated Farms’ broader mission to enhance rural livelihoods, particularly in communities where women-owned small businesses often face challenges in accessing capital and expansion opportunities.
At the event, Rijo Shekari, the chief executive officer of Kamurum Integrated Farms and an aspirant for the All Progressives Congress ticket for the Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency in the 2027 elections, said the project reflects his conviction that women are central to sustainable development.
He said strengthening women-led enterprises leads to stronger households, more vibrant local markets, and a resilient economy.
Shekari commended Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for championing the Kaduna Peace Model, noting that restoring peace in previously troubled communities had created the enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
In a goodwill message, Mrs Fatu Gyet Maude, wife of the paramount ruler of Ham, hailed the initiative as a strategic step towards strengthening women’s capacity to contribute meaningfully to community progress.
She urged beneficiaries to use the financial support wisely to expand their ventures, adding that the palace would continue backing interventions that uplift women and promote peace and social advancement.
Mrs Maude appealed to individuals and organisations to emulate Kamurum Integrated Farms by prioritising community-centred development.
Participants expressed appreciation, describing the intervention—each receiving ₦105,000—as a life-changing opportunity that would boost their productivity, improve household welfare, and contribute to Jaba’s broader economic growth.
The initiative further reinforces Kamurum Integrated Farms’ rising profile as not just a key agribusiness player, but a significant force in community development across Southern Kaduna.
