Ebonyi State Governor Chief David Umahi has directed that all civil servants in the state be paid their November and December salaries together before December 10, 2022.

The governor also directed that all civil servants be paid a bonus of N15,000 each.

In a statement signed by his special assistant on media and strategy, Mr. Chooks Oko, the governor said the office of the accountant general of the state, Emeka Nwankwo, is to ensure payment.

He said the move was to give civil servants enough time and resources to plan ahead of the Christmas and New year celebrations.

“In keeping with Ebonyi State government’s social contract with civil servants to ensure that they enjoy the holiday season despite the late arrival of FAAC allocations to the state in recent months, Governor David Umahi has directed that overdraft facilities should be obtained from banks.

“The facilities are to ensure that the state and local government areas pay November and December salaries together with the Christmas bonus of N15,000 to all civil servants by December 10,” the statement said.

Oko noted that the financial benefits were also to be complemented with other material gifts such as bags of rice among others.

“It is expected that these benevolence from the governor would further spur the diligence and dedication of state civil and public servants to their duties,” he added.
