Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command attached to the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad have arrested six male suspects for forcefully initiating victims into a cult group, the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.
It was gathered that the initiation took place on November 25 at a forest in Enugu North local government area.
Spokesman of the Police in Enugu, SP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed that 1 locally made double-barrelled pistol and 4 cutlasses used for their criminal activities, and 2 empty bottles of Squadron rum used for the initiation, were recovered from the suspects.
He hinted that the suspects have confessed to being members of the secret cult group and their involvement in the criminal acts, and would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Ndukwe disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has reiterated his commitment to rid the state of unrepentant criminals and their activities during this festive season and beyond.
