US President Donald Trump Alleges Vandalism At Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

United States President Donald Trump has alleged that the newly renovated Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., was targeted by acts of vandalism.

The claims followed the recent completion of a $14 million restoration project, which included structural updates and an “American Flag Blue” paint finish. The site reopened to the public on June 6, 2026.

Writing on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Friday, President Trump stated that individuals had damaged the surrounding lawn and the newly installed interior surface of the pool. He added that federal law enforcement authorities are actively investigating the incident.

“We’ve had some real problems with Vandalism at the beautiful Reflecting Pool, which sits between The Washington Monument and The Lincoln Memorial. Just like three days ago, they destroyed the grass outside of the Pool, they’ve also done everything possible to hurt the inside surface that was just installed, ” Trump said .

The allegations come amid ongoing public out cry and media reports highlighting structural issues at the site, including peeling sealant and severe algae growth within weeks of the reopening.

Addressing the maintenance issues, the president noted that the algae condition is being remedied using specialized water treatment technology, and the physical damage from the alleged vandalism would be repaired by early this week.
