Rivers State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that the people of the state are committed to supporting the re-election of President Bola Tinubu come 2027.

Fubara made the declaration yesterday at Ogbakiri community in Emohua local government area of the state, while inaugurating the Ogbakiri Junction Roundabout-Ogbakiri Waterfront Road, which was executed by his administration.

The project, which was awarded to construction giant, Julius Berger, in September 2024, was completed three months before the scheduled date for completion.

The governor stated that he already assured the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that following the organic support he enjoys, the state has enough foot soldiers to carry out the task of ensuring Tinubu’s re-election.

“The task ahead is very simple. It might be big, but it is very simple. By the special grace of God, yesterday, I paid a visit to the National Executive Committee of our great party and after the meeting, they gave me a message, which I giving to all of you.

“It is a very simple message. They said: ‘We know you are very hardworking; we know that you have organic support, transfer the support to the success of our leader, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu.’ I told them in the meeting that they shouldn’t worry, that we have the right foot soldiers.”

Fubara described the Ogbakiri Junction roundabout-Ogbakiri waterfront road, as very significant to the present administration in the state, pointing out that it was initiated at the administration’s most trying time.

The governor said: “This project we are commissioning today is very significant to us. We initiated this project in our most trying time. I can’t forget the circumstance we were facing at that time.

“I use the word very ‘significant’ because when we made the first payment for this project, it was when we had the first court judgement barring us from accessing federal government’s facility in our funds.

But, I made a promise when I came here that no matter the situation, God will provide a way for us to fund this project. So, when I say this is important and very significant to us, I know why I say so.”

In his speech, executive director, Administration, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Dr. Abdul Aziz Keita,

said the construction company was able to complete the road project ahead of the scheduled date of completion due to the support it received from Governor Fubara and the people of Ogbakiri community.

Keita said: “This project was awarded to us on September 6, 2024 and it was supposed to be completed in March 2026. But, Julius Berger has completed this project three months ahead of the schedule. And this we have achieved because of the support we had from His Excellency, the governor of Rivers State and also from the community.”
