Nigeria is taking concrete steps to strengthen its position as a leading energy hub on the continent with preparations underway for the 25th edition of NOG Energy Week and renewed momentum in upstream investment and technical capacity development.
The NOG Energy Week, regarded as Nigeria’s foremost gathering for the global oil, gas, LNG and energy industry, will hold its landmark 25th edition from July 5 to 9, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja. The event is expected to bring together industry leaders, policymakers, technical experts and investors to shape conversations around innovation, collaboration and the future of energy development in Nigeria and across Africa.
As a regional energy powerhouse, Nigeria continues to play a critical role in global energy supply, with stakeholders stressing that sustaining this leadership will depend on technical excellence, innovation and knowledge sharing.
In line with this objective, the 2026 NOG Energy Week will host its sixth Technical Seminar, featuring multiple sessions across 14 thematic categories over two days.
The organisers have opened a Call for Papers for the CPD-accredited Technical Seminar, inviting industry professionals, researchers and academics to submit entries that address evolving challenges and opportunities within the energy sector. Selected papers will undergo a rigorous peer-review process before being presented at the event.
Meanwhile, Nigeria recently recorded a major milestone in upstream development with the execution of a landmark Production Sharing Contract by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, in partnership with the TotalEnergies–Sapetro Consortium, for Petroleum Prospecting Licences 2000 and 2001. The agreement is expected to boost crude oil and natural gas exploration, enhance energy security and reinforce investor confidence through transparent contractual frameworks.
The Technical Seminar will span the full energy value chain, covering areas such as geoscience, drilling, gas and LNG projects, midstream and downstream infrastructure, power generation, decarbonisation, digital transformation and energy finance.
Organisers said the seminar is designed to deepen technical capacity, encourage innovation and position Nigerian professionals and institutions at the forefront of sustainable energy development across Africa.
