Oyo State Police command has warned politicians and other stakeholders to caution their overzealous loyalists and supporters against needless aggression and violence.

The state’s commissioner of police, Adebowale Williams who gave the warning while speaking in Ibadan yesterday, said political bigwigs and other stakeholders should put a leash on their aggressive supporters.

Adebowale also ordered a full-scale investigation into the alleged destruction of billboards in some parts of the state at the weekend by some unscrupulous and criminal-minded agents of mischief and anarchy.

He warned that anyone caught disturbing the peace or inciting violence through deeds or otherwise would be decisively dealt with in accordance with relevant laws and statutes of the Federation.

The police chief appealed to parents , guardians and leaders of varying degrees of influence to prevail on their wards against being used as canon-fodder and destructive tools.

Adebowale assigned the deputy commissioner of police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to immediately commence investigation on destruction of billboards.

“Lastly, the good citizens of Oyo State are encouraged to provide credible and timely information capable of nipping crime at the bud to the Police with the assurances of treating such with utmost discretion.”
