Amaraegbu Obinna Daniel,  the  programme coordinator of the foundation disclosed this when the commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Sir Major Ejike Emenike, represented by Anozie Maduabuchi, the head of Environmental Health and Sanitation of the ministry, unveiled the THASEF Apprenticeship Training Aid (TATA)  in Owerri.

Obinna in his opening remark explained that the THASEF Apprenticeship Training Aid was conceived in response to a growing environmental concern – textile and fashion waste in commemoration of the United Nations World Cleanup Day whose theme on textile and fashion waste captures the urgent need for robust action in this regard.

“Across our communities, discarded fabrics and unused textiles contribute significantly to environmental pollution and climate challenges” stressing that the TATA initiative was designed to empower apprentices with the knowledge and tools required to convert textile waste into value while promoting responsible fashion practices and environment consciousness.

“Today, we are not only unveiling a training aid, we are unveiling hope, skills and a sustainable pathway for the future”.

He announced Miss Eze Daniella as the winner and beneficiary of the First Edition of the THASEF Apprenticeship Training Aid and subsequently donated an industrial sewing machine to her to among other things, enhance her productivity and strengthen her technical capacity.

The executive director of THASEF, Nze Agu Uzo (Nze Obi) presented an Award of Honour to the State Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation – Barr Sir Major Ejikeme Emenike (JP²) in recognition of his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment as a Pillar of Environmental Sanitation and Sustainability in the state, who assured that the Second Edition of the THASEF Apprenticeship Training Aid would be open to interested fashion trainees who enrol through the THASEF certified volunteers’ membership.
